Have been licensed for over 15 years, with a life-long interest in people - striving to understand and help them overcome the emotional difficulties they encounter in their lives in order to be able to reach for Joy that is everybody's birthright and come closer to one's potential. I work with children as well as adults; women and men, people who are bisexual, gay, lesbian and/or transsexual. Although I personally trained in the Jungian tradition, I have many different 'tools' in my psychotherapy 'basket' and chose the one that fits best the needs of my client. I am particularly interested in various life transitions: such as reaching the '30's, '40's, '50's, etc., each bringing out specific issues, such as 'middle life crisis.' Chronic illness, grief, trauma and loss are also part of my expertise. As a marriage and family therapist I love to help improve family dynamics and strengthen the relationships people are in.
Though I provide individual therapy, I also encourage people to attend group therapy in order to improve their communication skills and enjoy increased support from the group interaction. In order to maximize the experience obtained in therapy session, when appropriate, I recommend specific books to read, tapes to listen to; I encourage journaling, recording one's dreams, etc. My overall work is focused on empowering my clients, on helping them overcome limiting self beliefs and negative self-talk, increase their self-esteem, focus on their qualities and positive aspects, as well as develop new perspectives on their lives.
