About Me & My Practice

It has been clear throughout my 30+ years of psychotherapy practice, that listening to people and helping them find the way out of their dark places is what I do best. Having spent many years working through my own issues, I am thoroughly acquainted with the many life stages of women, and what it takes to transition through those stages successfully.
It is therefore no surprise that many of my clients return to do more therapy, long after our work was complete, for help with new problems and challenges that occur.
They also send their friends, sisters, husbands, sometimes their children - because they know and trust that I will help if I can, and refer on to someone else if I can't.
Having spent many years in Jungian analysis and in Taoist and Buddhist practices, my viewpoint is a fairly spiritual one - open to all Ideas about beliefs and faith and how these may be helpful in healing. However, I am also very practical, and I like to teach my clients to take action for themselves, because I believe that this moves them beyond the victim state and into one of powerful self-sufficiency, where helplessness and hopelessness become things of the past.
My practice is predominantly with women (both gay and straight), but I do work with men and couples as well. The current age range is 19 to 69.
My approach to each person is somewhat eclectic, depending on what I see to be their needs at the time. Sometimes we use dreams or meditations. Sometimes there are writing exercises. Sometimes there are physical things to do, or changes to be made in diet and exercise. I offer suggestions and what happens from there depends on the client. Sometimes we need to modify thinking patterns or communication styles if they are causing problems, and always, always, we aim to increase self-awareness, so that ultimately all the tools for transformation will be known, and seen to reside within the client.
I consider each person's process to be unique, and I am always honored to accompany them on this most intimate part of their journey.
