I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a degree in Clinical Psychology practice, and have extensive post-graduate training and experience in relational therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and expressive techniques.
Beginning my career in the counseling field in 2002, I have practiced in a wide variety of locations and settings including my home town of Bogotá, Colombia, New York City, and Miami, FL.
I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and adults in both clinical and community settings. Through my experience I have confirmed that while specific techniques and interventions are helpful, ultimately a meaningful therapeutic relationship is the crucial factor for lasting benefits.
I work primarily from an interpersonal and psychodynamic perspective and believe that most problems are interpersonal in nature, that early relational experiences are the first and most significant forms of learning, and that the therapeutic relationship is the most important avenue for change.
