I work primarily with mindfulness and cognitive therapy. Mindfulness teaches us to take a breath and respond, rather than react. Cognitive therapy gives us the tools to see our lives differently, to challenge negative and self-defeating narratives as they arise.
I am very effective in working with couples, regardless of their level of conflict or distance. If you are considering couples therapy, please start sooner rather than later: most couples enter therapy about 3 years too late! Don't let that be your story!
If you feel depressed, anxious or stressed, you will find that the combination of mindfulness and cognitive therapy, described above, may be your longest-lasting and most effective way of actually changing these attributes permanently, or at least diminishing them considerably.
I was licensed in 1995. I have worked with families of terminally ill children and with cancer patients and their families at local non-profit organizations.
I have practiced mindfulness and meditation since the late 80s.
I have an active interest in neuroscience and human relationships, and I am constantly reading and studying this fascinating field.
