If you are looking for a therapist who understands the struggles of being a teenager or entering adulthood, we may be a great fit!
Although I am a general practitioner, meaning I see a variety of clients, my expertise is with teens, young adults, and families struggling with addiction. My work is client-oriented and my style is direct, relaxed, and accepting. I value the relationship I have with each client, as I believe it is the relationship that heals. Interpersonal therapy is the foundation for much of my work with clients and I use Attachment Theory as a theoretical base to form nurturing relationship and positive regard for all my clients. By offering a model for positive relationships through the therapist-client relationship, reflections of the client made by the therapist encourage changes in thinking and behavior in outside relationships. I also use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to work with my clients to create self-awareness and change. I am great with younger adults, and relate through a very down-to-earth, humor-filled perspective.
My expertise is in the field of recovery, working with clients who have addictions to alcohol and other drugs. I am very passionate about my work in both residential substance abuse treatment centers and outpatient community clinics. These experiences are the foundation for my skills and enjoyment for work with Bay Area youth. In 2011, this enjoyment of seeing change in the lives of youth and families impacted by drugs and alcohol was a catalyst for my starting an outpatient substance abuse program for teens and their families at a non-profit agency, called TOWER (Teens On the Way to Emporwerment and Recovery).
Additionally, I have worked within a variety of clinical settings, including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Phoenix House, Kaiser Hospital San Francisco, and community based non-profits. I have experience as a parent coach, a foster parent trainer, and as a guest speaker for psychology and assessment classes at training centers and colleges.
Currently I see clients as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW # 27168) in my private practice in San Francisco, and I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, in addition to those I see in the TOWER Program.
I hope my deep interest in my clients, coupled with an authentic desire to help is evident. I offer a free 15 minute consultation.
Thanks!
